CBE NEWS

January 2021

Happy New Year!

CBE joins you in welcoming the new year! We will continue to cast our vision for CBE in 2021, working to break down patriarchal standards and beliefs, reaching people across denominations and the world. In moving into 2021, President Mimi Haddad reflects in her most recent blog post, "We face 2021 with minds fixed on Christ’s reconciliation and Paul’s example and teachings in guiding our work."

You are invited to get involved. The winter issue of CBE's magazine, Mutuality, is now available online. Check out books we recommend in CBE’s Favorite Books of 2020. In CBE's expanding online platform, join a chapter, our prayer team, head to our virtual bookstore, and listen to podcast episodes coming out this month.

New Mutuality Issue, Winter 2020

There is no magical age at which a woman’s maturity and experience cancels out the discrimination she experiences based on her gender, so we need to talk about gender equality past the experiences of our youths. While working out an equal partnership in our marriages and ministries, we will encounter new challenges at each stage of life. To that end, this issue of Mutuality tries to tackle how our egalitarianism speaks to the challenges and context of midlife and beyond.

A CBE Course Coming Soon!

Eyes Open to Abuse

Are you a pastor, lay minister, or parachurch organization leader? Do you want your church or organization to be better equipped to address and prevent domestic violence? CBE is partnering with Fuller Seminary to create a course module on the Fuller Leadership platform to equip Christian leaders to recognize abuse while also creating an environment where abuse cannot thrive. CBE worked alongside faculty in Fuller’s School of Psychology to develop this course content so that it couples best practices for identification and prevention with the most current theological conversation.

Because this course is meant for professional development, it will be open to anyone! You don’t need to apply to participate, and you can go through it for personal development or as a staff.

This course will be released soon, so be on the lookout for more information!

Join or Start a CBE Chapter in Your City

Chapters are a local expression of the movement led by CBE, collaborating to advance biblical equality in homes, churches, and communities. Using their individual creativity and unique gifts, CBE chapters host a variety of events like educational forums, leadership summits, community meals, fundraisers like golf tournaments and Zumbathons, film screenings, and coffee talks. Local chapters also function as incubators where members grow in advocacy and communication skills, which they can then contribute to CBE’s magazine, academic journal, annual conference, and blog.
