For centuries, Christians have relied on flawed Bible translations that reinforce patriarchy, devalue girls and women, and fuel abuse. That is why CBE launched an initiative to examine and retranslate the biblical passages most often distorted to demean females.
CBE recruited an expert team of women and men from diverse ethnic, racial, geographic, and denominational backgrounds to work on translating 500-plus Bible verses (70 different passages) that will provide exegetically sound, gender-accurate, and accessible English translations from the original biblical texts. They are working to identify where the wording of traditional English translations is inconsistent with the sense of the original language.
“Adopting a gender-accurate translation does not mean we are adding or taking away anything from the Bible. It means we are taking seriously our responsibility to accurately reflect the nature and intent of God, who communicates primarily with us through Scripture. Using a gender-accurate translation is a way to make sure everyone is able to see themselves at the center of God’s redemptive story rather than in the margins.”

We need $60,000 to cover the final phase. If you share the dream to reclaim gender accuracy in Scripture, please make a generous donation to invest in this vital project.
